Crucial Conversations for Code Professionals .3 CEU's
Mastering High-Stakes Dialogue in the Field
This interactive course equips Code professionals with the tools to navigate high-pressure, emotionally charged conversations with confidence and clarity. Drawing on the principles in Crucial Conversations, participants will learn how to remain calm under pressure, speak persuasively without escalating conflict, and foster mutual respect even during disagreements. Emphasis is placed on real-world Code scenarios, including community complaints, enforcement discussions, and internal team communication.

Interpersonal Communication Skills .7 CEUs
Communication is the foundational skill for all relationships, trust, customer service, teamwork, and leadership. With great communication, we will experience success. Without it, we will not be able to achieve much. This program is designed to maximize all important aspects of communication, including listening, tone, non-verbal messages, clarity, and style matching. Additionally, the program delivers key information about communication boundaries, objectives, intimacy, and richness.

Verbal Judo for Code Professionals .3 CEUs
The Art of Tactical Communication
Inspired by law enforcement principles, Verbal Judo teaches Code professionals how to use words to redirect hostility, gain compliance, and defuse tense situations. Participants will practice proven techniques for gaining voluntary cooperation through empathy, active listening, and respectful assertion. Special focus is placed on maintaining control of the conversation while preserving the dignity of all involved.

CONTINUING EDUCATION All ACEA/CELA courses are approved and recognized by the International Code Council Preferred Provider Network (ICCPPN) towards maintenance of your ICC certifications. Check with your local licensing board for additional CEU requirements.

Registration is required before Friday, September 12, 2025 at 5:00 PM

Payment In Full In Advance Only

Registration fee includes instruction, reference materials, continental breakfast, lunch, and break refreshments. Event photos will be used for association purposes.

Registration cancellations will be accepted until Friday, September 12, 2025 at 12:00 PM

Cancellation Policy:

A $20.00 administration fee, per day, will be subtracted from all conference refunds of registration payments for written cancellation requests received on or before 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 12th. After this date, no refunds will be made. Substitutions will be accepted by contacting the Treasurer at treasurer@cela1.org by Monday, September 15, 2025.
